1996 Jeep Cherokee Junkyard Lift Kit Part 2 - Coil Springs, Brakes, and Tires (XJ Ep.10)
After delays due to broken and stuck bolts, we are coming back to finish the suspension lift on Rob's Jeep Cherokee! The rear suspension is largely finished, but the front end needs springs and trailing arms to match. Plus, someone creates a brake fluid leak (completely unavoidable) which means that system is going to need more attention than expected. We have a lot to finish up and even more to cover after the Jeep is lifted, so let's get to work!
Timeline of filming: February 24th, 2021 - February 28th, 2021 (Suspension/Brakes)
April 26th, 2022 (Tire Change)
Song List (Order of First Appearance):
00:01 Come On Out - Dan Lebowitz
03:33 The Low Seas - The 126ers
06:12 Blue Creek Trail - Dan Lebowitz
11:28 Jeremiah's Song - Dan Lebowitz
15:27 Who Can Say - The 126ers
20:22 Empty Hearted Man - The 126ers

1996 Jeep Cherokee Junkyard Lift Kit Part 1 - Retrieval and Install (XJ Ep.9)
Переглядів 34 тис.Місяць тому
We've always wanted to lift Rob's Jeep Cherokee, but finding the money for parts that aren't strictly necessary is a challenge. Fortunately for us, a matching XJ showed up in a local junkyard with exactly the parts we were after! In this video, we'll pull the springs and other lifted suspension parts from the parts Jeep, and start the process of installing them on Rob's! Of course, nothing goes...
Building Extended Shackles, Modifying Polyurethane Bushings, Fitting Exhaust (78 Firebird Ep.39)
Переглядів 34 тис.3 місяці тому
We lifted the suspension of this 1978 Firebird using S10 lift spindles in the front and modified leaf spring packs in the rear, but to get even more we used longer than stock shackles. In this episode we'll build stronger shackles to replace our mock-up ones, make them a bit more narrow by using custom bushings to help the exhaust fit, and get the intermediate pipes back in place to rebuild the...
Finishing the Front Suspension Lift with Spacers, Tires, and Brakes (78 Firebird Ep.38)
Переглядів 43 тис.4 місяці тому
After modifying Chevy S10 lift spindles to fit on our Firebird we managed to get it back to sitting on its own suspension, but there was still a lot left unfinished. This time we're tackling a few important things, mostly focused on the front suspension, that we'll need to get this car back on the road. We'll need wheel spacers to keep the wheels and tires away from the spindles, tires to make ...
Using Aftermarket S10 Spindles to Lift a 78 Firebird (How and Why) (Ep.37)
Переглядів 95 тис.4 місяці тому
This car has been a huge project recently, and not just the engine swap aspect that we have been covering but a fair amount of suspension work as well. I decided that I wanted a little more height out of the suspension and had an idea of how to do it in a somewhat unusual way, which has not been without challenges but it has been an interesting puzzle to try to figure out along the way. This lo...
Harbor Freight Engine Stand Mods (Reinforcement, Brakes, Handle, and More!)
Переглядів 81 тис.9 місяців тому
In 2017 we needed an engine stand so we went and bought the cheapest one we could find, which ended up being a Harbor Freight Pittsburgh 69520. It was a little rough around the edges but got the job done, and has served us well in the years since then. We have been modifying it now and then to fix small problems or add features, but it's about time to go through with a bunch of ideas and try to...
1996 Jeep Cherokee Differential Reseal and Ignition System Tune-up (Ep.8)
Переглядів 36 тис.10 місяців тому
After the gas tank replacement the Jeep Cherokee was doing very well, enough so that it seemed worth fixing some of the smaller issues. First up is the gear oil it was constantly leaking from the rear axle, and the water that may or may not have gotten inside of it from that point. We'll refinish the diff covers and refill both axles, and then replace the usual plugs/wires/cap/rotor to give the...
454 Engine Swap: Installing Big Block Engine and Supercharger (78 Firebird Ep.36)
Переглядів 68 тис.10 місяців тому
Now that the old engine is out of the car, we should have plenty of space for the Big Block Chevy 454 we have been rebuilding! It may not be quite as easy as dropping it into the engine bay, but we will make it happen one way or another. Then, we will get our rebuilt B&M 250 supercharger installed along with the carburetors and engine accessories. Also, I forgot to include the part number in th...
454 Engine Swap: Removing Small Block Engine and Preparing for Big Block (78 Firebird Ep.35)
Переглядів 97 тис.Рік тому
It is finally time to get back to work on the car itself instead of prepping the new engine for it, and first off we'll have to make some room for all of that! We'll start off with a wash and retrospective on the small block 350 that was in the car when I bought it nine years ago and then get right to work on removing it. Then there are a bunch of little things to do while the engine bay is emp...
454 Engine Swap: Drilling Flexplate, Shimming Starter, and Weighing Engine (78 Firebird Ep.34)
Переглядів 47 тис.Рік тому
We are re-using the factory flexplate, but it is a bit of a problem since I want to bolt it to a torque converter with a different bolt pattern than what it came with. The converter has a 10 3/4” pattern while the flexplate is 11 1/2”, but that won't be a problem because we have a drill press and files to slot the mounting holes. Then, we'd better figure out a starter that is going to turn this...
454 Engine Swap: Carburetor Setup and Mods for Boost (78 Firebird Ep.33)
Переглядів 50 тис.Рік тому
We thoroughly covered the supercharger we will be using, but haven't mentioned what will go on top of it yet. There is a lot to cover on the Holley carburetors we will be using and all sorts of things to figure out in order to make them work the way we want them to. We will be installing special vacuum canister lids to synchronize the secondaries, boost referencing the power valves, and bending...
454 Engine Swap: Cooling System, Dipstick, Prelube, Test Fitting Supercharger (78 Firebird Ep.32)
Переглядів 45 тис.Рік тому
We're in the process of getting our rebuilt 454 engine ready to install, and this time we have a lot of small things to work on. First up is the temperature switch for the radiator fans and the thermostat, then we need to fit the oil dipstick tube and headers, prelube the engine by running the oil pump with a power drill, and finally test fit our supercharger to see how it looks all together. T...
454 Engine Swap: Harmonic Balancer Install/Pinning and Engine Accessories (78 Firebird Ep.31)
Переглядів 50 тис.Рік тому
It is time to get back to working on the setup of the engine itself, and this episode is covering the selection and install of the engine accessories. Specifically, we'll install the balancer/crank pulley, water pump, alternator, and power steering pump and get the pulleys into alignment. This took a lot of fiddling to get just right so we will try to cover everything we can all at once and mov...
B&M 250 Supercharger: Finding and Fabricating the Missing Parts (78 Firebird Ep.30)
Переглядів 64 тис.Рік тому
The supercharger itself is back together and buttoned up, but we are still missing a few important accessories that are needed to use it. First up is the pop-off plate for the intake manifold which we are going to have to fabricate from a piece of aluminum plate. Following that, we will piece together everything needed for the belt drive system. This was a big undertaking for such simple parts,...

We finally got the supercharger back together only to tear one of the new teflon strips after turning it over. This time, we are taking it back apart to apply some critical thinking and creativity to the situation in hopes of getting a fresh set of teflon seals to break in without just breaking. Then, we have some unfinished business with the intake manifold's many questionable bolt holes that ...

21:30 fuel smell because it is exposed to exhaust ring blow. It has unburnt hydrocarbons which will be reingested and burned. Some will eventually find it’s way to a fiery end in a catalytic converter if not given another burn via the egr system.

Thank you very much for sharing this information. A customer pulled in to my shop with the exact same vehicle/problem. I also checked the workshop manual first and thought about declining the job. Luckily I found your video and the swap was a breeze. Why the manufacturer tells you to tear the entire vehicle apart when it clearly can be done this way is beyond me.

Hi I picked one of these up recently, love it to bits, been looking around but haven't had much luck finding any accessories for it. (Holster, taclight, suppressor, etc) It's got the mounting for an attachment underneath and it feels silly to just leave it unfitted. Especially for when we do pistol only games at the local airsoft site

Sir, I am truly impressed by the level of detail and accuracy in your video content. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts. I wanted to share how your video has been particularly helpful to me. I live in India, and I've noticed that products I receive from the USA, such as shoes or laptops, often have issues with rubber parts drying out and deteriorating. This happened to the laptop my uncle sent me from the USA. I was unsure if using WD-40 would be a good solution to preserve the rubber. After watching your video, I decided to spray WD-40 on my laptop to prevent the rubber from becoming sticky due to the excessive heat here in India. The rubber now looks much better, and I hope that treating it with WD-40 will extend the lifespan of my laptop’s body. Thank you once again for your valuable advice.

Yeah, this one is coming much later than needed, but it is good to flush your system with just a citric acid. Drop a bunch into radiator, take out the thermostat, refill it with clean water (preferable non-tap, but distilled), cruise around and repeat the process. Cheapest and easiest way to flush, plus can be done while driving )

I've been watching your channel for a while now. The realistic and excellent auto work aside, I appreciate your good grammar! No, I'm not a retired high school teacher, but I have been increasingly annoyed (and worried!) by how badly some folks butcher the language. I am NOT referring to various accents or when English is a second language. I'm talking about guys and gals raised on English. Anyway, kudos on an excellent channel and for paying attention in school! :)
